The Galvanic Skin Response Sensor for Equivital enables GSR to be recorded or monitored live in almost any situation. This data may be especially valuable when combined with Heart Rate, Respiration, HRV, Core body Tempurature, Skin Tempurature, Body Position and Location etc.
What is GSR(Galvanic Skin Response)
GSR is a change in the heat and electricity passed through the skin by nerves and sweat. Galvanic skin response increases in certain emotional states and during hot flashes that happen with menopause. Also called electrodermal response and skin conduction.
GSR is measured by a GSR sensor. The device measures electrical resistance between 2 points most usually on the fingers. The two paths for current are along the surface of the skin and through the body. Active measuring involves sending a small amount of current through the body.
Due to the response of the skin and muscle tissue to external and internal stimuli, the resistance can vary. When correctly calibrated, the GSR can measure these subtle differences. There is a relationship between sympathetic activity and emotional arousal, although one cannot identify the specific emotion being elicited. The GSR is highly sensitive to emotions in some people. Fear, anger, startle response, orienting response and sexual feelings are all among the emotions which may produce similar GSR responses.
Equivital GSR Sensor
The Equivital GSR Sensor, interfaces with the EQ-01 device using a wired connection to the front of the SEM.
